ABOUT

IRMAWY STUDIO proposes a mindful, eclectic wardrobe where multicultural identity becomes wearable expression.

Moving between Indonesian sartorial heritage, nature, and music, designer and artist Irma Yasandikusuma composes pieces where materials, gestures, and memory meet, translating cultural knowledge into distinctive forms.

Garments are crafted from hand-woven, natural, and upcycled textiles. Jewelry are sculpted from distinctive Indonesian stones, reclaimed metals, and transformed materials.

Each design emerges from a constellation of dedicated artisans, crafted for those who value creative authenticity, refined quality craftmanship, and a versatile sense of style.

BIOGRAPHY

Irma Yasandikusuma is an Indonesian designer born in Geneva and raised in the multicultural neighborhood of Les Pâquis, before training in Paris at the Studio Berçot Fashion School.

Her career began in 2010 at Lanvin, where she worked alongside jewelry designer Elie Top. This formative experience immersed her in the precision and artistry of luxury craftsmanship.

In 2013, she launched Irma Wy, an artisanal jewelry line known for bold, sculptural neckpieces reflecting her multicultural heritage. The project developed through collaborations with independent boutiques and concept stores in Paris and Geneva, including Pigalle Paris and The Broken Arm.

In 2016, she returned to Indonesia, dividing her time between Bali and Jakarta to reconnect with her roots and explore new collaborations with local artisans and new jewelry forms. This chapter led to a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2017, her first solo exhibition in Ubud in 2019, and several independent pop-ups.

During the global pandemic, a period of reflection followed, during which she revisited her creative practice while consulting on projects connected to fashion and culture.

Today, Irma reopens her studio with renewed clarity and intention. Through IRMAWY STUDIO, she proposes a refined alternative wardrobe where fashion, craft, identity, and cultural dialogue converge.

Her work carries a spirit she describes as “Old Soul, Young Mind” - honoring ancestral artisanship while shaping it into contemporary expression.

Pieces from IRMAWY STUDIO were recently featured in Vogue Phillipine through The Pearl Project, photographed by Chi Geotina.
